Black Sand is an after-treatment product after charring.
Selected high-grade wood is directed through a specially built charring chamber. After treatment, the material is ‘resting’ and it is further processed with a special brush machine that gently separates the charcoal. As a result, the technical qualities of Yakisugi remained, and only the wood treated in this way retained the wood-fiber texture that stands out after charring.
The product is treated with water-borne black mordant. Finally, the material is treated with a special oil for exterior use that gives a deep and warm glow or lacquer for the interior. As a result, a long-lasting, non-smearing effect is achieved.
